Do Mortals travel to the Heavens?

Or thou have a house of gold or thou ascend into heaven; and we will not believe in thy ascension until thou send down to us a book that we can read. Say, Holy is my Lord! I am not but a man sent as a messenger. (17:94)

This verse dismisses the possibility of humans ascending to the heavens to bring guidance. When disbelievers made various demands of the Holy Prophet, one being that he should ascend to the heavens and bring a book from there, he was advised to respond that his claim is merely that of a mortal prophet, making the demand nonsensical. 'Holy is my Lord,' signifies that Allah is far above such absurdities.

Muslims who believe that Jesus physically ascended to the heavens are, in fact, supporting the Christian viewpoint. If Jesus truly ascended to the heavens and will return one day, this verse alone is enough to affirm his status beyond mortality, which aligns precisely with the Christian belief.

then will you deny the ascension of our beloved Prophet SAW to the seventh Heaven

Holy Prophet's mairaj was a spiritual journey and a sublime vision, not a physical flight to some point x,y,z in space. His body never left his bed. Sahih Bukhari concludes the long narration on this by saying, 'and then he woke up'. The Holy Quran says: The Prophet stated truly that which his heart had experienced. (53:12)

you can't conclude that it was not a physical flight, you'll never know it, we'll never know it, but Rasulullah only. The lesson from Isra' Mi'raj was about a test of our Iman on that journey. Do we belive it or not? The point is that he did the journey. Everything is possible in from of Allah SWT. It's not a justification of the christian stories, the story was false in the beginning. Prophet Isa was not crucified.

If Jesus indeed ascended to heavens than this verse would end up supporting the Christians claim that he was more than a human.

As for Allah being capable of doing anything he wants. Of course he can. But that can never be the basis of an argument to prove ones own fancies. A Christian may argue that Allah also wanted to have a son, was it not in his power to do so?

The Quranic contention that Isa was not crucified means that he did not die on the cross. The crucifixion was attempted but he was brought down alive.

i dunget it. wat is jesus involved in your argument? i canot stand but to say...each and evry one has their own belif in their own religion and no one has a right to claim that theirs is more mighty and to say that it is fake of other religion's holy book says. yours is quran but what about the holy bible? It is already stated in the holy bible as many have brought to believe that Jesus Christ has already died on the cross to wash our sins and rose again on the third day. now i ask you, if you say that he did not die during the crucification, why on earth would someone claim so in the bible? why would people celebrate sumthing if it is not true. no doubt now no one can prove anything, NO one.

according to quran..isa or jesus is "kalamtullah" or the word of god,a status ascribed to no other phrophet. all muslims believe the virgin birth of jesus. it surely indicates supra mortal status.no other prophet including rasool Mohammad had divine qualities like jesus. jesus is given authority over satan and he will return as king. the close study of quran makes jesus special.

it is true that ....Islam is a derivative of a Christianity.anyone can figure it out...read the bible then quran..its basically copy paste...now bible is more credible because its written by 40 people over a period of 1500 years and it was completed 600 years before Mohammad.

Hi Anonymous!

I think you have not read Quran yourself ; if you would have read Quran you would have known that it is not only Jesus who has been described as kalama or Word;

Quran mentions about John the Baptist also that he was also a Word or Kalama from GodAllahYHWH :

[3:40] And the angels called to him as he stood praying in the chamber, 'Allah gives thee glad tidings of Yahya, who shall testify to the truth of a word from Allah - noble and chaste and a Prophet, from among the righteous.

[3:41] He said, 'My Lord, how shall I have a son, when old age has overtaken me already, and my wife is barren?' He answered, 'Such is the way of Allah; He does what He pleases,'

In fact Word of GodAllahYHWH have been mentioned in Quran to be numerous:

[18:110] Say, 'If every ocean become ink for the words of my Lord, surely, the ocean would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even though We brought the like thereof as further help.'

I don't think that Quran mentions about Jesus anything which is not shared by others; if you study Quran then you will realize that.

Thanks

Look anonymous, virgin birth by itself does not give divinity. This whole line of reasoning that has worked quite well for Christians in the past, needs to be abandoned with news of komodo dragons also giving virgins births. See this link

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/12/061220-virgin-dragons.html

It has been scientifically established that even mammals, such as rabbits, have also become spontaneously pregnant and delivered healthy young.

So, Jesus, or this komodo dragon or similar such products of extraordinary birth, remain very much mere creations of God Almighty.

The true life story of Jesus was written by his disciples who were with Jesus and listened to his teachings, followed him everywhere, witnessed his crucifixion and saw him alive after resurrection. They preached the message of Christianity, always bringing the event of crucifixion to the people. People in those days knew about the crucifixion of Jesus. When the disciples were preaching about Jesus, no unbelieving person ever denied the fact that Jesus was crucified on the Cross. Jesus disciples ran away and denied Him, when he was arrested. They found faith and courage to witness about Jesus only after seeing Him alive after the resurrection. If Jesus did not raise from the dead, then why would these scared disciples who were afraid for their lives, ever preach His message. After seeing Jesus raised to life, they preached the word of Jesus throughout the world without any fear for their own lives and we all know that after a few years they were all martyred, but the teaching of Jesus spread thorughout the world. The entire history of Jesus is written in the Bible, by people who were with Him through His lifes journey on Earth.....I do not want to criticise the Quran and its teachings, since religion is a sensitive subject for everyone and we are brought up based on its teachings and its very difficult for anyone to accept another teaching as true.....Religion is meant to bring peace and love for everyone on this Earth and not hatred or division....A Muslim will always say that the Quran is the true word of God and the Christian would say the Bible, the Hindu would say Bhagvad Gita etc and the atheist would say there is no God....Thousands of years have passed and there has still not been one world religion. There has always been various religions present.....God will judge everyone based on their conduct on Earth.....You may still disagree, but remember you believe in the Quran because you were born in a Muslim family. If you were born in a Christian family you would have believed the Bible.....Live in peace with everyone. Let God be the judge.

Komodo Dragons and Human are two compeletly different species, both have different biological structures, so the comparison here is way off the chart. As for virgin birth in humans, how many other instances can you quote? None. Hence this has to be a miracle, a work of God, Allah alone.

Affan: Very true. It would be very much a miracle. My understanding of miracles is that these are natural phenomena which occur with the special leave of God though the confluence of a number of unlikely events occuring at exactly the right time.
